My mother moved into Gateway in January and got her first electric bill a few weeks ago. She lives in a studio and her bill was around $130. That seems really high. We've been trying to figure out why it was so high. Gateway Management has been unresponsive. The person that I was supposed to talk to is always on the phone and they keep saying to call back later. So I spoke to a coworker who also lives in the Gateway complex and he said that people have been complaining about the high electric bills for a while. He said that the heater that is installed in the units uses electricity and that draws a lot of power. I wish they would have warned us about that, especially when I asked the sales people if heat was included. I wonder if the management company is scamming us? Now my mom monitors how much electricity she uses in the apt. At least there is a digital meter so that she can see how much she is using.
